VFA Film Festival
Valencia Film Arts Film Festival: Valencia High School hosted their first ever film festival, the Valencia Film Arts Film Festival, on Friday, May 21st, at the Valencia High School auditorium. Winners of the 18th El Dorado Film Festival
The El Dorado Film Festival were screened on Thursday, May 20th, 2021. Congratulations to all of our filmmakers. Being an official selection for the film festival was an honor in itself - only 39 of the 177 films submitted were able to be screened at the event. Thanks to our 35 alumni and staff judges who took part and made this event possible. And finally, congratulations to those films and filmmakers selected as our category winners! 2021 El Dorado Film Festival Nominations
Congratulations to the 39 nominated films for the 18th annual El Dorado Film Festival. We received 177 entries this year. The 2021 El Dorado Film Festival had 35 judges, including 24 alumni, 7 of our EDHS faculty members, Mr. Switzer and the FilmED staff. These Official Selections will be screened in front of a live audience and live-streamed at the El Dorado Film Festival on Thursday, May 20th at 7pm in the Performing Arts Center on the campus of El Dorado High School. OC FILM FEST NOMINATIONS
El Dorado's Advanced Video Production students recently received 4 nominations from the upcoming Orange County Film Festival. HAWK TALK, El Dorado's weekly school news broadcast was nominated for BEST BROADCAST, "6 Weeks" produced by Nikki Castillo '21 was nominated for BEST MUSIC VIDEO, "Surfing Through The Pandemic" by Bella Lazaro '21 and Emily Allsup '21 was nominated for BEST SPOT FEATURE, and one of the Hawk Talk Intro's was nominated for BEST SHOW OPEN. Directing Change Award Winners
Our DMAA freshmen video students recently participated in the Directing Change Program and Film Contest. Directing Change is a program whose mission is to educate young people about critical health topics through the medium of film and promote social justice by changing conversations in schools and communities. 10 of our films were recognized and won awards in the categories of SUICIDE PREVENTION, MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS, and THE ART OF SELF LOVE AND SELF-ESTEEM. William McClenon is the DMAA Student of the Week for May 3-9
This week's student of the week for DMAA is William McClenon. Since the beginning of the year William has shown enormous growth as a graphic design student in his ability to come up with creative design projects. William always shows up to class with positive attitude and an open mind to learn new things. For these reasons, William McClenon is this week's DMAA Student of the Week.
