Joyce Chang is the DMAA Student of the Week for 2/23-3/1.  This week we’re celebrating Joyce Chang, a 2-year Video student whose creativity and craftsmanship are next-level. Joyce is the kind of artist who brings intention to everything she makes—she’s thoughtful, hardworking, and constantly innovating with every project. As Sophia Smith puts it: “Joyce is one of the most creative people I have ever met… her passion for art is contagious to all that encounter her.”

Joyce’s talents go way beyond traditional filmmaking. In addition to our Film Pathway, she’s an illustrator and animator and has also completed El Dorado’s Game Art Design Pathway—which shows in the originality and style she brings to the screen. Reislyn Miller sums it up perfectly: “She is amazing at not only video and cinematography, but animation as well… kind, funny, and an overall awesome person to work with.”

In a short time, Joyce has created everything from experimental art films to heartwarming animated stories of connection and loss, always pushing herself in new directions and taking creative risks. And coming up next month, the OC Register will announce that Joyce is a semifinalist for OC Artist of the Year in the Filmmaking category—an incredible honor and a well-earned recognition.

Congratulations, Joyce—your talent, curiosity, and artistic voice make DMAA better every day.
